讲座信息(1)题目:Current Development Trends of M&S

摘要: Rapid innovations of computer and communication technologies result in new opportunities for development and application of modelling methods and simulation methods and techniques (M&S). As a result, a wide range of M&S application domains, and an increasing complexity of simulation models and applications are being used.

At first, this presentation will cover major trends offering new functionalities of M&S, as well as enlarging opportunities for education and training, as well as for systems analysis and decision support. Currently, especially AI support for M&S is of increasing importance. But besides these benefits of recent advances of M&S, increasing risks with respect to quality and credibility of applied modelling methods, credibility simulation applications and their results have to be considered.

This presentation will give the audience a brief summary of current major M&S development trends, resulting consequences demonstrated by several examples and own experiences.

讲座信息(2)题目:VV&A-Requirements for Credibility Analysis and Evaluation of M&S Applications and Results

摘要: As nowadays modeling and simulation (M&S) is one of the most important enabling technologies which support rapid innovations in education and training, as well as for analyses and prediction of systems dynamics. As a result, complexity of most models and simulation applications are permanently increasing. Examples are distributed M&S, simulation as a service (MSaaS), component-based M&S or cloud simulation. In this regard, the need for improved and efficient quality control mechanisms, for verification and validation (V&V) methods and tools of models, simulations and resulting data is increasing.

Therefore, at first, this talk will present a summary of current status of V&V-methods, processes, and techniques to guarantee quality, credibility and usability of M&S, as well as to minimize risks related to model deficiencies ( e.g. design errors, implementation fault, misuse). In the second part of the talk, already available international guidelines and standards for V&V will be considered. The importance of structured documentation and archiving of all M&S-development is a prerequisite for standardized V&V over M&S lifetime will. Its feasibility and effectiveness will be demonstrated by some case study experiences.

主讲人信息:Axel Lehmann教授, 国际建模仿真领域最著名的学者之一。德国慕尼黑联邦国防军大学教授,德国信息学会(GI)Fellow、 董事会成员。曾任国际建模与仿真学会(SCS)主席(2000-2002),2017年入选SCS名人堂。 Axel Lehmann的主要研究方向包括:建模仿真VV&A,建模仿真方法(离散事件系统),计算机和电信网络的性能/可靠性分析,基于知识的诊断和决策支持等。
